Broyhill Recliners | Comfort & Craftsmanship for Every Room
Our Laramie rocker recliner brings decades of furniture-making expertise into a silhouette that works in any living room. We built this piece with a hardwood frame reinforced at every stress point, then upholstered it in durable chenille that stands up to daily use. The mechanism glides smoothly through rocking and full recline positions, and the padded armrests offer support whether you’re reading or watching TV.

Every Broyhill recliner starts with a kiln-dried hardwood frame, a construction method we’ve refined over decades in North Carolina furniture country. Kiln drying removes excess moisture from the lumber, which prevents warping and splitting as the wood ages. We reinforce each corner with glued-and-screwed blocks, and we use steel sinuous springs across the seat deck instead of cheaper webbing.

Upholstery options & care
We offer Broyhill recliners in three primary upholstery families: performance fabric, bonded leather, and top-grain leather. Performance fabrics use tightly woven synthetic fibers treated with a stain-resistant finish—spills bead up on the surface long enough for you to blot them away. Bonded leather combines leather scraps with a polyurethane binder, creating a surface that mimics leather’s look at a lower price point. Top-grain leather is full hide with the outermost grain layer intact, offering the most authentic patina as it ages.
Cleaning guidelines
For performance fabric, vacuum weekly with an upholstery brush attachment and spot-clean spills immediately with mild soap and water. Bonded leather needs a damp microfiber cloth every few weeks—avoid harsh cleaners that can break down the binder. Top-grain leather benefits from a leather conditioner applied twice a year to keep the hide supple. Never use steam cleaners or bleach-based products on any upholstery.

Reclining mechanisms explained
We equip our recliners with three types of mechanisms depending on the model. Traditional lever recliners use a manual handle on the side—you pull it to release the footrest and lean back to adjust the angle. Pushback recliners eliminate the lever entirely; the mechanism engages when you apply backward pressure with your body weight. Power recliners use electric motors controlled by a button panel, and our dual-motor versions let you adjust the backrest and footrest independently.
Choosing the right mechanism
Manual levers work well if you prefer tactile control and want to avoid batteries or power cords. Pushback designs suit smaller rooms because they don’t require clearance for a side lever. Power mechanisms are ideal for anyone with limited hand strength or mobility concerns—the lift option on models like the Cambridge adds an extra layer of accessibility by tilting the seat forward when you’re ready to stand.

Common questions about Broyhill recliners
A rocker recliner includes a rocking mechanism in addition to the reclining function, so the chair can sway gently back and forth when upright. Standard recliners only tilt backward and raise a footrest. Rocker models like our Laramie work well for parents who want to soothe a baby or anyone who enjoys a gentle rocking motion while reading or watching TV.
Manual and pushback Broyhill recliners typically need 18 to 24 inches of clearance behind the chair to fully recline. Wall-hugger designs, which slide forward as they recline, can sit as close as 4 inches from the wall. Power lift models like the Cambridge also function well near walls because the footrest extends forward rather than requiring rear clearance.
Yes, our recliners work on both surfaces. On hardwood or tile, we recommend adding felt pads to the base to prevent scratching when the chair rocks or reclines. On carpet, make sure the pile height isn’t so deep that it interferes with the reclining mechanism—low-pile or commercial-grade carpet is ideal.
Every Broyhill recliner includes a lifetime warranty on the hardwood frame structure and a one-year warranty on mechanisms, springs, and electrical components. Upholstery is covered for one year against manufacturing defects like seam separation or fabric delamination. Normal wear, stains, and fading from sunlight are not covered, so we recommend following the care instructions included with your chair.
For performance fabric, blot spills immediately with a clean cloth, then use mild dish soap mixed with water and a soft sponge to lift the stain. Avoid rubbing, which can push the spill deeper into the fibers. For bonded or top-grain leather, wipe spills with a damp microfiber cloth right away, then dry the area with a towel. Never use bleach, ammonia, or steam cleaners on any upholstery type.
