Broyhill Ottoman | Handcrafted Upholstered Ottoman Collection
Our Laramie ottoman brings versatile style to any living room with its clean-lined silhouette and plush cushioning. We built this piece on a kiln-dried hardwood frame, then wrapped it in durable performance fabric engineered to stand up to daily use. The Laramie works as extra seating, a coffee table with a tray, or a classic footrest beside your favorite chair.

Every Broyhill ottoman starts with a kiln-dried hardwood frame, a construction method we’ve refined over decades of furniture manufacturing. Kiln-drying removes excess moisture from the lumber before assembly, which prevents warping and joint separation as the wood stabilizes in your home. We reinforce each corner with glued blocks and dowel joinery, creating a structure that supports daily use without creaking or loosening over time.

Upholstery fabric & leather options
We offer Broyhill ottomans in three upholstery categories: performance fabric, natural-blend textiles, and top-grain leather. Performance fabrics on the Laramie ottoman are solution-dyed polyester, meaning the color is locked into the fiber during manufacturing rather than applied as a surface treatment. This process makes the fabric inherently stain-resistant and colorfast, so spills wipe away easily and sunlight won’t fade the upholstery over time.
Our linen-blend fabrics on the Grayson ottoman combine natural linen fibers with synthetic polyester for a textile that has the soft hand of linen but resists wrinkling and pilling better than pure linen. We stock five neutral colorways — ivory, sand, slate, charcoal, and espresso — chosen to coordinate with the wood tones and metal finishes across our furniture collections. The Dawson ottoman’s top-grain leather comes from hides selected for consistent thickness and minimal scarring, then finished with a water-based protective coat that shields the leather from moisture and light scratches. We recommend conditioning the leather quarterly with a pH-neutral leather conditioner to maintain suppleness.

Ottoman sizing & room placement
Proportions for different spaces
The Laramie ottoman measures 36 inches wide, making it our largest option and the right choice when you need a substantial piece to anchor a seating group or serve as a padded coffee table. We recommend placing the Laramie in rooms where your sofa or sectional is at least 84 inches long, so the ottoman’s scale matches the surrounding furniture. The Grayson and Dawson ottomans are both 28–32 inches square, a size that works in smaller living rooms or as a companion piece to a single chair.
When positioning an ottoman as a footrest, leave 12–18 inches of clearance between the front edge of your seating and the ottoman. This distance lets you extend your legs comfortably without feeling cramped. If you’re using an ottoman as a coffee table, increase that clearance to 18–24 inches to allow room for walking around the piece. Many of our customers who compare seating options across our upholstered line choose a Broyhill recliner for media rooms and pair it with a smaller ottoman in the adjacent reading nook, creating distinct zones within an open-plan space.

Common questions about Broyhill ottomans
Our ottomans support 250–300 pounds depending on the model. The Laramie and Dawson ottomans are rated for 300 pounds, while the Grayson storage ottoman supports 250 pounds due to the lift-top mechanism. All models use the same kiln-dried hardwood frame construction, and the weight ratings account for dynamic loading from sitting or standing on the ottoman.
These capacities apply to evenly distributed weight. Concentrated pressure on a single point — such as standing on one foot in the center of the cushion — can compress the foam more than the rating suggests.
Yes, we offer free fabric and leather sample swatches for all upholstery options. Visit our fabric sample request page, select up to five materials, and we’ll mail them to your home within three business days. Each swatch measures 4 inches square, large enough to see the texture and color accurately under your room’s lighting.
Samples include care instructions and the corresponding fabric name, so you can reference the exact upholstery when placing your order. Leather samples show the natural grain variation you can expect in the finished product.
The Laramie and Dawson ottomans arrive fully assembled — just remove the protective packaging and place the piece in your room. The Grayson storage ottoman requires minimal assembly: you’ll attach the four legs using pre-drilled holes and the included hardware. The process takes about 15 minutes and requires only a Phillips screwdriver.
All hardware and tools are included in the packaging. We provide illustrated instructions, and the pre-drilled holes ensure the legs align correctly without measuring or marking.
Blot liquid spills immediately with a clean white cloth to absorb as much moisture as possible before it penetrates the fabric. Mix one tablespoon of mild dish soap with two cups of warm water, dampen a cloth in the solution, and gently dab the stain from the outside edges toward the center. Avoid rubbing, which can spread the stain or damage the fiber.
Rinse the area by blotting with a cloth dampened in plain water, then press a dry towel into the fabric to absorb excess moisture. For set-in stains or large spills, we recommend professional upholstery cleaning to avoid damaging the performance finish.
The Laramie ottoman is our largest model at 36 inches wide with a removable cushion cover and no storage. It works best as a coffee table or footrest for sectionals and large sofas. The Grayson ottoman measures 32 inches square and includes a lift-top storage compartment with a fabric-lined interior. The Grayson also features button tufting across the cushion, while the Laramie has a smooth upholstered surface.
Both models use the same kiln-dried hardwood frame and high-density foam cushion construction. The choice depends on whether you need hidden storage and prefer a tufted or smooth cushion aesthetic.
We do not recommend using indoor leather ottomans outdoors, even on covered patios. Humidity, temperature fluctuations, and exposure to indirect sunlight accelerate moisture loss in leather, causing it to dry out, crack, and fade. The wood frame can also warp or develop mold in high-humidity environments.
If you need ottoman-style seating for outdoor spaces, look for furniture specifically rated for exterior use with weather-resistant upholstery and moisture-sealed frames.
Condition your leather ottoman every three months using a pH-neutral leather conditioner. Apply a small amount to a soft cloth, rub it into the hide in circular motions, and buff away any excess with a dry cloth. This schedule replaces natural oils that evaporate over time and prevents the leather from drying out or cracking.
If your ottoman is in a room with low humidity or near a heat source, increase conditioning frequency to every six weeks. Always test the conditioner on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn’t darken or alter the leather finish.
